Dr. Neha Goel Completed graduation and post-graduation (MS ophthalmology) from the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi (2006-2009). Underwent 3 years training in vitreo retina (senior residency) at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi (2009-2012). She is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations (DNB) and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow, UK. Recently awarded member national academy of medical sciences (MNAMS). She has worked as vitreo-retina and uvea consultant and in-charge electrophysiology services at ICARE eye hospital and postgraduate institute, NOIDA, U.P from 2012-2019. She is currently working as senior consultant, vitreo-retina and uvea at Eye7 chaudhary eye centre, New Delhi. She has keen interest in academics with over 100 publications in various journals (85 PubMed indexed publications). She has presented over 100 papers at various state level, national and international conferences and was invited faculty for several state level and national conferences. She is a coauthor of Handbook of clinical trials in ophthalmology and authored several chapters in books. She has served DJO, Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology 2015-17 as assistant editor. She is a member of Editorial board of the Journal of Ophthalmic Research and International Journal of Ophthalmic Research. She was principal / Co-Investigator in over 10 multicentre clinical trials relating to medical retina and uvea. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Young Researchers (PG) Award for thesis (AIOS), Dr. A.C. Agarwal trophy (DOS), Dr. H. S. Trehan trophy (DOS) and best paper award, Young Researchers (PG) Award for thesis by All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) in 2011and Toshbro/Oertli scholarship 1st prize, the best Paper Award at Joint Meeting of 28th Congress of APAO and 71st Annual Conference of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) 2013 (Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh), Dr. A. C.     “Search or perish” A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the subject is indispensible for both patient care and academics. A good literature search is an essential pre-requisite for performing quality research. It is a key step in formulating a research question, planning a study, and interpreting and discussing the results. In addition, this may be required during writing thesis or manuscripts for publication and also for presentations and seminars. Of the many search engines available, MEDLINE / PubMed ® is one of the most popular and easily accessible. It contains articles published in 5200 journals in 30 languages from 1946 covering medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine. Approximately 42% of articles published in the last 5 years contain links to free full text (link to PMC).     Ten Clinical Trials in Retinal Diseases Every Postgraduate Should Know

    1. CATT (Comparison of Age-related Macular Degeneration Treatments Trials)1 Description A prospective, multicenter, single-blind, noninferiority randomized clinical trial. 1208 patients with neovascular AMD were enrolled from February 2008 and randomly assigned to receive intravitreal injections of ranibizumab (0.5 mg/0.05 ml) or bevacizumab (1.25 mg/0.05 ml) on either a monthly schedule or as needed with monthly evaluation. Patients aged ? 50 years with active, subfoveal CNV, fibrosis < 50% of total lesion area, visual acuity 20/25-20/320 and at least 1 drusen (>63?) in either eye or late AMD in fellow eye were eligible. The primary outcome was the mean change in visual acuity at 1 year, with a noninferiority limit of 5 letters on the eye chart. Results At one year, all four groups had similar improvements in visual acuity.
