Dr.Amit Pandey completed her MBBS in 2009 from SMIMER, Surat, and pursued his post-graduation in Ophthalmology from MGM medical college, Mumbai. He then went on to complete his Post-DO DNB from Bangalore West Lions super specialty Eye Hospital. His keen interest in Glaucoma made him pursue extensive Glaucoma training for 2 years at world-renowned Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He also succeeded in acquiring the prestigious Fellowship of International council of Ophthalmology (FICO, U.K.). Dr.Amit has been practicing Glaucoma and Phacorefractive surgery at Eye Q super-speciality Eye hospital for 3 years. He also visits various other Eye Q centres in Gujarat. He has vast experience in performing Glaucoma, cataract, refractive surgeries. He has performed over 6000 cataract and more than 2000 glaucoma surgeries. He has special interest in managing secondary and complicated glaucomas. He routinely performs premium IOL implantations including multifocal and toric IOLs. He has multiple publications in prestigious peer-reviewed national and international journals such as Journal of Glaucoma, Eye, Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and Journal of Eye Diseases and Disorders. He has presented numerous videos, papers, posters, and case reports at various state and national Ophthalmological conferences like GOS, KOS, AIOS, GSI, and Ophthaquest. He is a lifetime member of AIOS, GSI, Udhna Medical Association. Dr.Amit was instrumental in starting and developing glaucoma clinics at new Eye-Q centers at Bardoli and Parle point. He has contributed immensely in taking the glaucoma department at Eye-Q Rander road and Udhna to new heights in the past 3 years and making Eye-Q a leading center for glaucoma and Eye Care in South Gujarat.

    FIve Points You Must Note While Examining An Optic Disc

    Disc size A normal disk can be of small size and a normal disk can be of a larger size; size by itself does not determine glaucoma. It is relevant because the disk size determines the C:D ratio and the neuroretinal rim thereof. In a large disc one would expect a large cup and a large neuroretinal rim and in a small disc there is usually no cup. Disc size should be grouped as normal, small or large. Graticule on the slit lamp can be used. In cases with CDR discrepancies disc size should be compared to determine true discrepancy. Disc Shape A normal optic disk is vertically oval with the vertical diameter being the maximum diameter and the horizontal being the minimum diameter. Figure: Vertically oval disc. Note that the vertical diameter is longer than the horizontal diameter The variations in shape may be accompanied with astigmatism and amblyopia. An optic disk is considered torted when the vertical axis of the optic disk is rotated >15° from the vertical meridian. A tilted optic disk
